THE APPROACH
Listening first.
A good session player brings ideas without needing to make every idea heard. I come prepared, listen closely to the artist and producer, and work quickly toward the musical language of the project—whether that means a defined piano part, finding the right sounds on the fly, building several keyboard layers, or simply leaving space.
The goal is to make the record better, not make the keyboard part busier.
